𝟭. 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀: Studies show that most hiring managers prefer interviewing while in their best mental state, which is typically on Tuesday morning around 10:30 am.
The psychology behind interviewing on Tuesdays, is actually quite logical, and well… it just makes good business sense. Because, let’s face it, just about everyone in the office takes a least 2 days just to recover from that insurmountable Monday workload, 𝘦𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 the managers. And they may need time to reload and mentally prepare for yet 𝘢𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝗃𝗈𝖻 interview.

So, to play it safe, it’s best to interview with them right after they have prepared for the day, and right before the coffee wears off…

𝟮. 𝗗𝗼 𝗮 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸- Yes, believe it or not, your online presence 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 still matter to your potential employer in 2023. So, this means that they’re not just browsing your “𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘥𝘐𝘯" account 𝖺𝗇𝗒𝗆𝗈𝗋𝖾, but they are also doing what’s now referred to as “𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨.” And, YES, it’s legal. And YES, they 𝘞𝘐𝘓𝘓 actually scan ALL of your public social media accounts.

So just in case you were wondering, 𝘕𝘖, that picture with the “𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦” outfit you wore on vacation last year may not be the best first impression, and it may actually cost you your dream job… Yeah, I know it may seem unfair, but gone are the days of “social media privacy.”

In-fact, 70% of hiring managers utilize the social media screening process, and 54% of employers have rejected applicants due to disturbing content and images that they’ve discovered from the majority of applicants’ social media accounts. So, if you’re debating if you should remove a few “𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴” or inappropriate content on your account, but you’re just not sure, my advice to you is, “𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘥𝘰𝘶𝘣𝘵, 𝘤𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘶𝘵…”

𝟯. 𝗔𝗱𝗱 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲- The color blue is associated with a calm 𝖺nd composed demeanor. Dark blue, navy blue, or a combination of blue and black conveys confidence and it also projects authoritative, leadership qualities. And of course, most hiring managers will agree that those are ALL important qualities to have, especially in a job interview...

However, it’s okay to be a bit creative and show your person𝖺𝗅𝗂𝗍𝗒 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝖺 hint of 𝖼𝗈𝗅𝗈𝗋𝗌 𝗈𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗋 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗇 𝖻𝗅𝗎𝖾. 𝖨𝗍'𝗌 𝗃𝗎𝗌𝗍 𝗌𝖺𝖿𝖾𝗋 𝗍𝗈 𝗀𝗈 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁 𝗇𝖾𝗎𝗍𝗋𝖺𝗅 𝖼𝗈𝗅𝗈𝗋𝗌 𝗅𝗂𝗄𝖾 gray and white, as these are 𝖺𝗅𝗌𝗈 𝖼𝗈𝗇𝗌𝗂𝖽𝖾𝗋𝖾𝖽 𝗍𝗈 𝖻𝖾 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘴 𝗍𝗈 𝗐𝖾𝖺𝗋 𝖺𝗍 𝖺 𝗃𝗈𝖻 𝗂𝗇𝗍𝖾𝗋𝗏𝗂𝖾𝗐. Just 𝖽𝗈𝗇'𝗍 overdo it with bright colors like orange, yellow, and red...

Remember, your job interview is not the place to make a fashion statement, it’s a setting where 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 jobseekers meet to do 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 business and pitch winning interview presentations…
